God's measure of Greatness
Main Idea: God's measures true greatness on the basis of knowing and proclaiming Christ as he is revealed
1. Jesus defends john's reputation of greatness. (vv. 5-11a)
2. Jesus declares the least of His kingdom to be greater than John (v. 11b)
3. Jesus describes the advancement and opposition of his dawning Kingdom (vv. 12-15)
Questions to consider:
- when you think of "greatness," what examples or people come to mind? How do those examples compare with what Jesus says about greatness in Matthew 11?
- How does knowing Christ more fully change our sense of identity and purpose?
- Jesus calls us to know Him as He really is -- not just parts we prefer. Which side of Jesus do you tend to gravitate toward (His gentleness, His judgement, His authority, His compassion)? How can you grow in loving the fullness of Christ?
