For the Glory from God

Main Idea: Gospel wisdom teaches us to receive only the glory that comes from God through the humiliating reality of Christ crucified.

I. The eternal purpose of the gospel is our glory. (6-7)

II. The wisdom of the cross is hidden from the wise. (8-9)

III. Only God can reveal the mystery of gospel glory. (10-11)

3. Illumination (14-16)

Questions to consider:

• What does receiving glory from God mean? What does it look like in this life? How would seeking glory only from him change your relationships with others?

• How have you been changed over time by knowing God better?

• How should we think about those from whom God's wisdom is hidden? How should we treat them (or speak about them)?

• How does reflecting on future glory help you to rest in the finished work of Christ — to rest from seeking glory from others?
